It’s my first blog-iversary!!

first blogiversary

Look at me guys!!! I did it!! I followed through with a goal – a big one.

Back on April 3rd of 2015, I launched my first blog post for In Between Naps. I decided at the beginning of 2015 that I wanted to do a blog for reals. I had a travel blog from our gap year that I had already created, and thought I’d just continue posting there when we moved to Columbus, but I tried to post several times and it just didn’t feel right.

I’m big into the feels. I gotta feel some positive vibes or I have to change course.

Creating this blog was the fourth website I had created. The other three were all on Weebly, which had a drag-and-drop builder that was super easy to use for a non-techie person. It was a good introduction into the world of web design. I did hit a point, however, where I wanted a bit more flexibility. I knew eventually I would have to switch to WordPress.

So I took the leap with this blog and got myself WordPressed. Long story short, I’m very happy I did it. It was SO much harder than I expected.

Honestly, the only reason I stuck it out is that my friend, Rachel at Listen & Learn Music, had a goal she was working on at the same time. She has a toddler and was pregnant with her second child. She runs an online and brick-and-mortar business. She is a total rock-star. Her goal was to publish her second album of children’s songs just before the birth of her daughter. She was making it happen.

Obviously, my figuring out WordPress paled in comparison to what she was managing and accomplishing, so I had no excuses. I had to figure it out!! Thanks for the push, Rachel!

And I did! I got up at 4:00am for many weeks to make it happen. I had the mindset of: just get the basics done and I’ll adjust later. If you haven’t noticed, my site still has just the basics. I’m getting to the appearance and features little by little, but hey, I’m posting and that’s what matters!

Honestly, I’m so proud of myself for sticking with this! It’s easy to blog when things are going peachy, but it’s the “pits” that really provide the challenge. Through traveling over the holidays, sicknesses, Rob’s crazy schedule, and all those stressful times, no matter what, I posted every Tuesday for a year.

YAY!!!! ***confetti and sparkles!!***

I’m loving this blog and am so delighted that it’s going so well. Thank you to everyone who’s been reading and following, for all the love and support, and all the great feedback. Keep coming back because I will continue to write!

This is actually a great chance for me to ask you oh so sweetly if you’d follow my blog via email. *batting eyelashes*

All you have to do is pop in your email here and you’ll be alerted first thing when a post goes up. It’s so important to be able to keep in contact that way and not rely on social media. I know I have most of your emails already, but I value your privacy and inboxes, so you’ll have to be the one to add yourself! 🙂

Get yourself added!

Going forward I will continue to post every Tuesday morning. My family and I will have many changes coming up, and I’d love for you to follow along with us!

Thanks for reading my musings! I love that you’re here.

I’ll end with links for the most popular posts from this past blogging year. Enjoy!

Even though I usually find your new posts either on FB or my RSS feed I signed up for the email too 🙂 Happy Anniversary, Amy! Your blog has evolved into something really special, and I can’t wait to see what your family does in your new city!

I have so enjoyed reading your blogs this past year. I feel I have gotten to know you in a way that was not possible otherwise. Living in different parts of the country and only being in the same location for brief, often chaotic, family gatherings has made it hard to connect as sister-in-laws (or is it sisters-in-law ?). Looking forward to finally being in the same state!

Yay! It is hard to connect with all our families together sometime. So many kiddos and meals to take care of!! Last year we talked about a sisters-in-law coffee date. We need to do that!
